Hubert & Kare | Richmond VA Wedding Photographers
Hubert & Kare’s elopement wedding was the perfect way to open my 2025 wedding season! Kare is the sweetest—she was almost ready by the time I arrived at her in-laws’ house, where the backyard ceremony took place. Hubert is actually my past bride Amanda’s brother, and their family is so close to my heart! Seeing them again for another wedding was truly special.
These two not only share a deep connection but even look alike physically—I can already tell Kare’s calmness will always be Hubert’s balance. They were both born and raised in Brazil (my sweet home country!), and they love serving God together while working hard to build their future.
A Winter-Early Spring Wedding with Meaningful Details
This intimate backyard wedding was a true blessing. Hubert & Kare invited their closest family and friends to witness their vows in a heartfelt Portuguese ceremony—which made everything even more special! Every detail reflected the things that matter most to them: faith, family, and happiness.
Their color palette was dreamy: soft white/ivory, dusty blue, sage green, and champagne gold. A local Brazilian event decorator thoughtfully incorporated these colors into the décor, making every detail feel elegant and timeless. One of my favorite moments? Their adorable little niece announcing the bride—so precious!
Why They Chose a Backyard Elopement
Hubert & Kare wanted their wedding to feel deeply personal and meaningful, so they chose to have a backyard elopement at Hubert’s parents’ home. With only about 30 guests, the ceremony, family formals, bridal party portraits, and reception all took place in their large backyard. The setting was perfect—while the adults celebrated, the children played on the playground nearby.
We were expecting an overcast day, but God had other plans—the sun broke through in the afternoon, creating the most stunning golden glow. The light filtering through the trees and reflecting off the small pond in the back made everything feel magical!
Sunset Portraits at Pocahontas State Park
After the ceremony, we headed to Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, VA, for couple’s portraits—and wow, can we talk about how stunning this location is?! The sky was filled with clouds when we arrived, but then, out of nowhere, the sun peeked through, blessing us with the most beautiful golden hour light (lucky them!!).
I have such a deep connection with this couple's family—I first met them a few years ago at Hubert’s sister’s wedding in Richmond, VA, which I also photographed. Since then, they’ve truly felt like family. Kare was so excited when I sent their preview gallery on Monday, and knowing they LOVED their photos made my heart so full!
Cherishing This Special Day
I know I’ll cherish this elopement for years to come. One of my absolute favorite moments was finding an open field overlooking the river at Pocahontas State Park—it was the perfect ending to such a meaningful day.
