Dani and Fabio’s destination wedding was a dream from start to finish, and I knew it was going to be incredible because our engagement session was an absolute breeze. Their personalities are as fun as they are laid-back, and I could already tell their wedding day was going to be just as enjoyable. Dani, a sweet and beautiful bride, has an eye for the finest details, which made everything about this wedding feel like it was pulled from the pages of a wedding magazine. Seriously—just look at their invitation suite! It was designed like a passport, setting the tone for a fun, adventurous wedding weekend in Cape Charles, Virginia.

The venue was absolutely breathtaking, located right on the beach with a stunning sunset over the bay—yes, the East Coast sunset! The relaxed vibe of the beach wedding reflected Dani and Fabio’s personalities perfectly. From the ceremony to the reception, every moment felt like it was made just for them.

Speaking of the details, Dani’s wedding day ensemble was impeccably thought out. From her elegant dress and carefully chosen shoes to her bouquet, every element told a cohesive story of their love and style. And, of course, we can’t forget the tennis shoes Dani wore during the reception. It’s these little touches that make each wedding unique, and as a Richmond wedding photographer, it’s these moments that I live for.

The ceremony itself was nothing short of unforgettable. Surrounded by family and friends, Dani and Fabio exchanged vows in the most intimate and heartfelt ceremony. Fabio, who swore he wouldn’t cry, ended up breaking his promise (in the best possible way!). Watching them tie the knot was a privilege, and I felt so honored to capture these moments.

After the ceremony, we headed out to take portraits during golden hour, and let me tell you—those portraits were absolutely stunning. The light was just perfect, and Dani and Fabio looked radiant as they stood together in front of the bay. And let’s talk about the bridal party—these folks were ready to party! As soon as they stepped onto the bay, the excitement was palpable, and we had a blast taking pictures of them enjoying every moment.

Now, let’s talk about the reception. It was unique, vibrant, and full of energy from start to finish. The bar alone set the tone for the whole night, and every detail in the decor and design of the wedding was perfectly executed. As a Richmond wedding photographer, I love seeing couples who take the time to make every little thing reflect their personality. Dani and Fabio’s reception was a celebration of love, laughter, and good times. And can we talk about the food? Andre and I are still talking about the amazing dinner and desserts—absolutely delicious!

Of course, the real highlight of the reception was the dance floor. It was alive from the moment the music started, and I’ve heard that the party didn’t end until 5 a.m.! From a photographer’s perspective, it was an absolute joy to capture the energy and joy of the dance floor, and I’m sure the couple and their guests will have great memories of that night for years to come.

As a Virginia destination wedding photographer, I feel incredibly lucky to capture weddings like Dani and Fabio’s, not just in Virginia but all across the U.S. The opportunity to witness such an important day in a couple’s life is something I hold dear. Dani and Fabio’s wedding was a perfect reminder of why I love what I do. After we left Cape Charles, Andre and I drove all the way back to Richmond, filled with memories of a beautiful wedding and memory cards packed with stunning images. We were supposed to stay in Virginia Beach for the night, but in classic Marilia fashion, I accidentally booked the hotel for December instead of the night we were there (haha—whoops!).
