When I wrapped up Raphaella and Justin’s wedding in December, I truly thought that would be the final wedding celebration of 2024. But then Jaqueline reached out about her elopement wedding, and I was so happy to capture one last love story before closing out the season. And honestly? It was the perfect way to end the year.

Jaqueline and Anthony initially envisioned saying “I do” at the top of the Appalachian Trail—just the two of them, surrounded by nature. But as December approached, reality set in. A two-hour hike in the cold wasn’t ideal, and they wanted their closest family to be part of their day.

That’s when they chose Polegreen Church in Richmond, VA—a historic and open-air venue perfect for intimate ceremonies. As a wedding photographer in Richmond, VA, I’ve photographed weddings at so many gorgeous spots, but Polegreen Church always has a special place in my heart. Its minimalist charm and peaceful setting felt like the perfect match for Jaqueline and Anthony’s heartfelt vows.

The morning of their wedding arrived with steady rain, and I’ll admit—there were a few nervous glances at the forecast. But, as I always remind my couples, “Embrace the rain—it’s a blessing.” And this time, that couldn’t have been more true.

Right when it was time for Jaqueline to walk down the aisle, the rain stopped. We had one perfect hour of no rain for their ceremony and portraits. It felt like a gift.The soft, overcast light made every detail—from Jaqueline’s dress to Anthony’s teary-eyed vows—feel even more romantic.

One of my favorite parts of Jaqueline and Anthony’s wedding was how deeply personal it felt.

Ending the year with Jaqueline and Anthony’s wedding reminded me why I do what I do. Every wedding is unique, and every couple brings a new story to my storybook of photographs.
